Driven by his vision and duty to direct Sri Lanka towards an energy sufficient green economy, Ceylon Innovent (Pvt) Limited was founded by diplomat Buddhi K Athauda in the year 2020.
​
Upon bidding goodbye to an outstanding diplomatic career spanning 13 years, he returned to Sri Lanka in January 2020 and revived his passion for entrepreneurship. As a result, Ceylon Innovent (Pvt) Ltd. was born. He has a broad range of experience and expertise exceeding 26 years in providing mission-based direction and strategic governance, building teams to deliver targets. Parallel to the energy transition currently taking place the world over, Ceylon Innovent (Pvt) Ltd is on a mission to become the pioneer of solar and wind power energy solutions in the region.

Buddhi K Athauda also has extensive expertise in the Mobile Satellite Telecommunication industry. He was a management member of Iridium LLC, which developed the first-ever mobile satellite phone offering worldwide coverage in the late 1990s to early 2000. As the Manager of New Business Development, he steered Iridium's business plan and assisted in raising USD 7.5 Billion in funds and coordinated Iridium's First Public Offering. As the Regional Manager for Asia, he successfully established a satellite earth station in Pune. He also launched the first call centre park in India to serve the Iridium Global Customer Base. His career highlights also include his tenure at Aelix Inc, VA, the USA, where he spearheaded the implementation and establishment of the global VoIP Network Buildup in Asia and the Middle East. In 2002, he established the Remote Accountant/Ceylon Mills Sri Lanka, a company focused on business knowledge outsourcing and developing technology solutions for BPO projects. He served as the Chairman/CEO of this venture till the year 2006.
